Deepdale Infants and Junior Schools have merged to create Deepdale Primary which will be Lancashire’s largest primary school with 700 pupils, 90% of whom are from Asian heritage backgrounds.

We have been working with the Head and Deputy Head to develop intensive digital residencies to support the transition between years 2 and 3 and promote the value of creative learning across the schools.

In the summer term four practitioners worked with school staff and pupils and engaged them in film making, digital design, the use of new apps and creative methods of using new software. These will all be incorporated into curriculum delivery from the autumn term.

One teacher said “ I loved the experience, it was enlightening to me. There should be more creativity in schools. I saw children who were usually middle of the road become socially confident and direct other boys and girls. These children could become the creative of the future”.

An interactive exhibition was held to celebrate the culmination of the project and parents and families attended and engaged with the exhibits and the technology on display.

Deepdale Primary will be a lead school in Curious Minds Digital Schools Alliance.
