Century to Century – Tweets from the Past.

Blaze is a Cultural Olympiad Legacy project working towards creating the next generation of cultural producers and entrepreneurs. We provide opportunities for young people to gain skills and experience of working in the arts and cultural sector in Lancashire and the wider North West, and progression routes into their creative careers.

As part of the World War One commemorations, Blaze is working with a group of young people from the Harris Library, Preston to develop a four year durational project that will explore communications across the century. Using the resources of the Harris Library and Lancashire Archives, the project aims to simply re-present every week an item of news from the same week of the war years 100 years previously, and to do this for the four years duration of the war period. Once a month this will also take the shape of a weekly short broadcast on BBC Radio Lancashire. We are now seeking an artist to work with us to shape how the project can be developed and presented.

A fee of up to £3,000 is available for this project, and we are looking for an artist to work intensively during July 2014 to shape a launch in August. We are open to art form used but are keen to explore the use of simple performance for this commission and the use of social media to document and grow the work.
