Curious Minds is immensely excited to see this new National Curriculum for Youth Work from the National Youth Agency. We share this excitement with all our youth sector colleagues and hope this important milestone will bring us one step closer to a world where the uniqueness and importance of youth work is once again prioritised and resourced. The North West is brimming with dedicated and talented professionals who put young people front and centre. We were also encouraged and enthused by the inclusion of art, culture, heritage and creativity as key themes. As drivers of cultural education across our region we’re committed to creating bridges between the world of the youth sector and of the arts sector, and celebrating where those bridges aren’t necessarily needed because the two worlds can operate so seamlessly together.
Our work on Hope Streets, Global Curiosity and our strategic partnerships with Young Manchester and Youth Focus NW are just some examples of a more recent push to bring the resource and support we have available into this sphere. As a team we’re going to take some time to read and think more deeply about the role of arts and culture as described in this framework and would love the chance to share and explore our thoughts with NYA and other youth sector leaders shortly.
