A one day training course aimed at primary education professionals including teachers, Head Teachers, school governors and teaching assistants.

Thursday 26 June 2014, 10am – 4pm

Whitby Hall , Whitby Park , Stanney Lane, Ellesmere Port CH65 9AE

This one-day course will challenge schools to be more inclusive by affirming the identities of our LGBT young people and those from LGBT families by:

  • Giving you real-life examples of the school experience for LGBT young people and those from LGBT families;
  • Exploration of the Ofsted and legal requirement to challenge homophobic language and behaviour;
  • Giving you the skills to recognise and confidently challenge homophobic language and behaviour;
  • Showing you how to develop and implement an LGBT inclusive curriculum across all key stages using tried and tested lesson plans in line with the National Curriculum framework.

Attendance on this course will also present you with the opportunity to bid for a performance of Happily Ever After for your school. This is a ground-breaking joint venture between LGBT Youth North West and Action Transport Theatre – funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council – combining a piece of theatre in education and educational workshop exploring LGBT identities using safe and interactive methods for children in KS3.
