Developed by Petrus, Connect 5 is a mental health promotion training programme that is designed to increase the confidence and skills of front-line staff about mental health and wellbeing, it has three levels, and you can choose to progress through the stages depending on the requirements of your role.
Module 1: An Introduction to Mental Wellbeing Conversations
The intended outcome of module 1 is to change the way we have wellbeing conversations so that we are confident and skilled to have brief conversations in which we help a person think about ways they can take action to improve their mental wellbeing.
The purpose of the session is to:
– Extend participants skills and confidence to have mental wellbeing conversations within everyday practice.
– Explain two public mental health models so that they can be used to frame mental wellbeing conversations.
– Describe 3Cs of connected conversations.
– Locate mental wellbeing services and resources in the area.
This event is hosted by Curious Minds and will be taking place online via Zoom.

Module 2: An Introduction to Mental Wellbeing Intervention
Please note: to be eligible to join this session, you must have attended module 1.
The intended outcome of session 2 is to change the way we have mental wellbeing conversations, so we and the person we are talking with develop a shared understanding of their mental wellbeing needs.
The purpose of session 2 is to:
– Apply the five areas model to a wellbeing conversation.
– Practice the 3Cs of connected conversation.
– Assess the nature and extent of the mental wellbeing issue being presented to ensure people get the right help at the right time.
– Identify steps that can be taken to improve mental wellbeing.
– Locate services and resources that support people to improve mental wellbeing.

The purpose of session 3 is to:
– Explain a number of strategies and techniques that break the vicious cycle at each of the five areas.
– Practice implementing self-management strategies to support successful change processes.
– Practice working collaboratively to set goals and agree a way forward.
– Incorporate self-management strategies and resources into everyday practice.

Artsmark schools from small and rural settings in the North West region are invited to attend a digital Artsmark Peer to Peer Network meeting, from the comfort of your own school.
This session will focus on how small and rural schools can partner with other schools to enrich their cultural journey.
During the conversations you will hear from guest speaker: Kate Turner, Teacher & Artsmark Lead at Balderstone St Leonard’s Primary School. Kate will share how she led their school to achieve Artsmark Gold during the pandemic. She will discuss some of the challenges their school faced as a small and rural setting, and will also provide some top tips to inspire the next steps with your cultural journey.
There will also be the opportunity for group discussion, peer support and Q&A.
Although the meeting will have a focus around the Artsmark Programme, the session is not exclusive to Artsmark schools, but is open to all small and rural schools from across the North West.

Curious Minds warmly invites schools from across the North West to attend an online briefing session to introduce you to Arts Council England’s flagship Artsmark Programme.
Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It provides a clear framework for teachers to plan, develop and evaluate arts, culture and creativity across the curriculum and beyond. Artsmark is open to schools from across all phases of education, including SEN and specialist schools.
During this session, you will have the opportunity to find out more about what’s involved in the Artsmark programme; including the journey schools go on to attain the award. You will hear from experienced and expert speakers about how working towards and gaining Artsmark can benefit your school.
As the local support organisation for Artsmark schools in the North West, you will also find out how Curious Minds can support your school through each stage of the process and the next steps you need to take in order to begin your school’s own arts and cultural journey.

This short online support session will focus on how you can create or develop your education offer to support schools working towards their Artsmark Award.
During this session we will:

We are delighted to be joined by special guest speaker Ann-Marie Lawrenson. Ann- Marie is the Capacity Lead at Halton & St Helens Voluntary and Community Action. With over 20 years of experience working within the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector in various roles, Ann-Marie has contributed to the work of Halton & St Helens VCA since 2000 and has held a senior manager position since 2004. A major part of Ann-Marie’s current role is to lead on capacity building and development for organisations working towards the STAR Standard Quality Award. She utilises her many skills to work effectively with Trustees, Staff and volunteers to ensure organisations are compliant with charity law and company law, as well as assisting them in the development of the governance of the organisation.
