Call out to furloughed staff from arts, culture and heritage sectors

We know that freelancers and small unfunded organisations are essential to the arts, culture and heritage education workforce. We also know their numbers are significant in the North West region and they are the most vulnerable at this time. We want to ensure the strength and vibrancy of our sector beyond this crisis situation and to this end we invite you to consider this call.

If you have been furloughed due to Covid-19 and have some time to volunteer to give to support freelancers and small community and voluntary organisations with your skills and knowledge, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Areas identified are:

  • Fundraising and bid writing (including reading and supporting bids to Arts Council England’s Emergency Fund)
  • Mental health & wellbeing
  • Finance & business support
  • Delivering online content
  • Creating a website
  • Marketing and social media presence
  • British Sign Language
  • Policy Development
  • Curriculum development
  • Organisational development
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities knowledge
  • Video editing
  • Developing Continuing Professional Development for teachers
This list is indicative, not exhaustive. You may have other skills or knowledge you feel may be valuable to members of this community.

If you feel you can offer your skills and time please email info@curiousminds.org.uk with the subject line ‘Furlough offer’. Let us know the name of the employer/organisation you usually work for, your job title and role and what you feel you can offer. We will then match your skills with requests we have and put you in contact with individuals/organisations requiring support. In the interests of GDPR we require your permission to hand on your contact information. You cannot volunteer for the organisation or employer who has furloughed you. Curious Minds staff will act as ‘Relationship Manager’ between furloughed volunteers and those in receipt of support.
