'When we create, we reconnect'

Friday, 5th December 2025

We're incredibly proud to share a beautiful new short film we’ve created, in collaboration with poet and teaching artist Tom Stocks.

The 2-minute film has been crafted to shine a light on the vital work we do in helping children and young people to flourish through arts and culture, and how important it is to their wellbeing and health.

This film forms an important part of Curious Minds’ storytelling journey. We want it to be a piece of advocacy that anyone can share and use to champion more and better access to creative opportunities  for children and young people

It has been beautifully crafted by Tom Edwards, a member of our own Communications team, whose filming, creativity and thoughtful editing brought this celebration of our purpose to life. We'd also like to thank our contributors - Tom Stocks, who wrote and performed his marvellous poem specifically for this project, as well as Spirix Collective, Bedford High School, Everything Human Rights, Falinge Park High School and The Old Courts, Wigan.

Vote and help us spread smiles

Because we want to reach as many people as possible with this film's message, we've submitted it as our entry to this years Smiley Charity Film Awards (The Smileys). These awards recognise and amplify cause-based films and stories that highlight charitable work and social impact across communities in the UK. The Awards were created by philanthropist and founder of The Smiley Movement, Nicholas Loufrani, and are officially recognised by the British Film Institute (BFI) and IMDb.

The more votes and shares our film gets, the more hearts and minds we reach. You can find our entry ‘When we create, we reconnect’ at the link below.

Please take the time to watch, reflect and, importantly, give us your vote.
