Modern Slavery Statement
Our commitment
At Curious Minds, we believe that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, fairness and respect. These values underpin everything we do, and we are committed to playing our part in preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all of its forms.
We take a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to acting ethically and transparently across our work, collaborations and relationships.
Who we are
Curious Minds is an arts and cultural education charity, leading nationally from the North. We work with partners across education, arts and culture to help children and young people to flourish through arts and culture. Our work is delivered through a network of organisations, freelancers and suppliers, and we recognise our responsibility to ensure that these relationships truly reflect our values.
How we work
We are committed to building and maintaining relationships with individuals, community groups and organisations who share our commitment to fair and ethical practice.
In practice, this means we:
- Work with trusted partners and suppliers who align with our values
- Take a considered and responsible approach to procurement
- Promote openness and accountability in how we operate
While the risk of modern slavery within our own organisation is low, we remain mindful of the potential for risk within wider supply chains and take appropriate steps to mitigate this.
Our policies and culture
Our approach is supported by a culture that prioritises fairness, inclusion and safeguarding. We are committed to:
- Fair and transparent recruitment and employment practices
- Respecting the rights and wellbeing of everyone we work with
- Providing clear routes for raising concerns, including through safeguarding and whistleblowing processes
We encourage our team, partners and freelancers to speak up if something doesn’t feel right, and we will always take concerns seriously.
Building awareness
We recognise the importance of ongoing awareness and understanding. We aim to ensure that our team, particularly those involved in partnerships and procurement, are aware of the risks of modern slavery and feel confident in identifying, discussing and addressing concerns.
Looking ahead
We are committed to continually strengthening our approach, reviewing our practices and learning from others to ensure we are doing all we can to prevent modern slavery.
