Remembering Jude Bird
We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our much-loved former colleague and friend, Jude Bird, after a short illness.
Jude was a straight-talking, generous and wise woman, who made an incredible contribution to the field of cultural education over her lifetime.The professional legacy of the time Jude dedicated to Curious Minds remains woven through much of our current work, in particular our SLiCE programme, and in the schools, organisations and individuals she supported and inspired. She was a dedicated mentor, a trusted advisor, a fierce advocate and her impact will be felt for a long time to come.
A Celebration of the Life of Jude Bird

We can now share details of a celebration of the life of our much-loved colleague and friend on the afternoon of Sunday, 22nd June 2025.It will be held at Theatre Porto in Ellesmere Port, from 2pm – 5pm.
In line with Jude’s direct wishes, this will be a ‘memorial and celebration of life, ideally taking place outdoors, where anyone moved to speak can do so and the song “Hey Jude” be played’. All are welcome - but please confirm attendance in advance with ruthspencer.info@gmail.com to help ascertain numbers attending. Further details will be provided on confirmation of attendance.
Over many years of Jude’s dedication to Curious Minds, we repeatedly witnessed the deep positive impact she had on so many people and organisations, particularly in the culture and education worlds. We would love to help reflect those achievements back to her family and friends.
If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute a tribute to Jude, we encourage you to do so. You may wish to send words, photographs or something else entirely. All contributions are welcome and can be sent to kelly.allen@curiousminds.org.uk. We will make sure that your tribute is represented at the celebration of Jude’s life, and passed on to her loved ones.
Those who were lucky to have known her will remember her with great affection – not only for her professional legacy, but for her warmth, humour, and unwavering belief in the power of culture to change lives.
