Go beyond numbers. Uncover the real stories of change your work has made possible.

At Curious Minds, we know that traditional evaluation methods often fall short when it comes to capturing long-term, human-centred impact. That’s why we developed Vox Curio: a unique consultancy package inspired by the Most Significant Change methodology.

What is Vox Curio?

It is a powerful storytelling approach drawn from methods of narrative inquiry, that aims to uncover the difference your work has made. It’s ideal for organisations working in complex, human-centred fields like education, arts, and community development. where numbers alone don’t tell the whole story.

Why choose Vox Curio?

This process not only uncovers powerful evidence of your work, but it also builds consensus within your team and celebrates the people you’ve supported. It’s engaging, collaborative, emotional and impactful. It’s fantastic evidence to share with funders, partners and policymakers. It should also help future planning and internal learning.

The Vox Curio Framework

1Decide rationale
What is missing from your existing impact evaluation and why are you choosing this method? Consider your theory of change and decide on the scope of your SQUIN study.
2On-board
Train your team and Story Listeners. Consider the techniques of depth-interviewing including active listening, recording, writing up and analysing.
3Select Narrators
Invite your staff team to identify informants who have experienced significant impact as a result of your work. Make personal introductions between these Narrators and Listeners.
4Field Work
Listeners arrange to meet with Narrators to collect their stories.
5Curio Assemble
A panel of staff comes together in a workshop. They begin with a Strategy Puzzle game to remind themselves of their organisational goals.
6Curio Map
The Assembly works together to find themes in the stories. This is an interactive process of finding themes and grouping them into categories. It is inspired by the ICA’s Consensus Workshop approach, making use of a large-scale sticky wall; we call it the Curio Map. Through a process of hierarchical card sorting, we move from individual input, to small groups, until the whole group is actively sorting and clustering ideas achieving a sense of agreement. This produces a manageable number of impact categories which can be shared with stakeholders.
7Vox Vote
With stories displayed around the walls of the workshop space, the Curio Assembly moves around the stories sharing out their limited number of sticky dots to vote on the two or three stories that best exemplify these categories of impact. These are the stories that can be shared with Board and Stakeholders to illustrate the impact of your work.
