More about the course
At Curious Minds, we understand the transformative power of every adult interaction when it comes to young people experiencing something new. When visiting cultural venues, these interactions can completely change a young person’s perception of the whole visit, regardless of what they’ve come to see or do, and affects their willingness to engage in the future. The responsibility to get it right is huge.
Drawing insights from two flagship youth engagement programs delivered by Curious Minds, participants will delve into key topics, including:
- Perceptions of Young People: Uncover how our perceptions shape our behaviour and impact young visitors.
- Teenage Brain Development: Understanding this can help us to better understand the young people we work with or welcome into our venues.
- Barriers and Enablers: Examine real-life situations affecting young people’s experiences in cultural venues.
The course content has been developed, tested and refined over many years and in collaboration with specialists in youth work and outreach, alongside young people themselves. It is uniquely tailored for professionals who engage with teenagers daily.
