Chester based arts organisation Minerva Arts and Warrington’s Express Youth Theatre are on the lookout for Youth Theatres to join the Lynk Cheshire network.

Last year Minerva Arts and Express Youth Theatre took the lead in a pilot summer project which brought young people across Cheshire together to develop skills in drama and performance. The project started with a collaborative residential in Tatton Park followed by a week in individual hubs, leading to a final performance.

The idea first came about when Steph Brocken, Artistic Director of Minerva Arts shared stories of the old Cheshire Youth Theatre with her seniors group. Cheshire Youth Theatre was a Cheshire County Council project that drew together young people participating in drama from throughout Cheshire to work together to create a major piece of performance.

This sparked an interest in her group which lead to the start of Lynk Cheshire. It is hoped that the project will continue this year with a similar summer scheme and also provide support, shared practice and enable practitioners to learn from each other.

Lynk Cheshire is now extending its call to other youth theatres in Cheshire who would like to be a part of the network.
