Following the success of this opportunity last year, we are really pleased to be working with experts from Unitas (http://www.unitas.uk.net/) to offer you a free CPD opportunity:

Arts and culture activity with young people in the criminal justice system

The specialist one-day course will take place at Band On the Wall, Manchester on 4th September 2014.

Places are free, limited, and will be allocated on a first come – first serve basis.  We anticipate that this course will fill quickly and be over-subscribed, so please only book a place if you are able to absolutely commit to attending.

The course is for experienced creative practitioners and project managers who are interested in developing specialist work with young people in the criminal justice system.

The course will cover:

·         Considering the role of the arts in engaging young people in the youth justice system

·         Identifying the potential barriers to engagement experienced by young people in the youth justice system

·         Identifying strategies for managing challenging or non-productive behaviours exhibited by young people in the contexts of arts activities

·         Identifying strategies for promoting the engagement of young people in arts based programmes

To book a place, please fill in the Booking Form and send it to: emma.nixon@unitas.uk.net

In addition, there will shortly be a very limited number of fully funded opportunities to complete an online Youth Justice Effective Practice Award (level 5 qualification, accredited by the Skills for Justice Awards) in ‘The Art of Engagement’.  The normal price of this accreditation is £199 and priority will be given to those who have previously attended the Unitas training day.
