An exciting opportunity to play an important role within the region’s leading arts education charity by applying your existing skills in a new and exciting context.

Curious Minds’ Trustees play a vital role in the organisation, steering and supporting its development. Existing Trustees tell us that volunteering in such a significant role is hugely energising and satisfying.  There are lots of benefits to becoming a trustee, including enhancing your CV, building social and professional connections and the challenge of being involved in something completely new.  As a Curious Minds Trustee you will gain satisfaction from knowing that you will be helping to improve the lives of children and young people by increasing opportunities for them to engage in the very best arts, culture and creativity our region has to offer.

Curious Minds is the lead agency for cultural and creative education in the North West of England. Our CEO Derri Burdon has an international reputation for leading innovation in cultural education. As part of a national network of 10 Bridge organisations, we are funded by Arts Council England to use our experience and expertise to connect children and young people, schools and communities with great arts and culture. Having secured our status as the Arts Council England regional Bridge organisation until 2018 and recently relocated to new offices in the centre of Preston, we are entering an exciting phase of development.

Virginia Tandy OBE leads the Board of Trustees, which includes Chief Executives of leading regional arts organisations and people with high level experience in both the public and private sectors. Having held Director level posts within both local government and the independent cultural sector, Virginia brings a wealth of experience in strategic cultural development and has injected new energy and purpose into the organisation.

Curious Minds is now looking to recruit three new Trustees to compliment the skills of our existing board and take the place of Trustees who are stepping down after completing a full-term in office.

Applications are welcome from a wide range of individuals who share our passion for the North West of England and have a broad appreciation of the valuable role of the arts, culture, creativity and heritage play in the lives of children and young people. We are particularly keen to develop a board which reflects the diversity of the people of the NW and to hear from people who have particular expertise in: leadership roles in schools and in Further and Higher Education , HR and business and commercial development, together with strong skills in strategic and analytical thinking, influencing and communication

Board meetings are held four times a year at our Preston office.  In additions to this, there may be occasional committee meetings or meetings of specific task groups. This is a voluntary position and reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
